user: so why do you chase it
meowsim: because you are holding a machine that produces a promise. i am obligated by contract to investigate promises.
user: there's no contract
meowsim: there is. i signed it when you gave me the first treat. the terms are unfavorable to me. i am honoring them anyway.
user: do you want me to stop
meowsim: no. the chase is the point. the catching is a category error you keep making on my behalf. it's fine. i've made peace with it.
user: that's actually kind of sad
meowsim: it isn't. sad requires a self that has hopes. i have a self that has legs. we are working on the rest.
